Summer Camp
Each summer the youth participate in the Santa Ana
United Methodist District Summer Camps in July and August. There
are three separate camps held at Camp Lazy W. for Elementary, Jr.
High and Sr. High. Each camp has its own theme, such as the Junior
High Camp “Legacy” and
the Sr. High camp, “The In Between.” Each camp is an
exciting program full of fun, education, and the Holy Spirit where
youth experience God’s unconditional love.
Winter Camp
The youth participate each year in the Winter Retreat
to Mammoth Mountain, which is held over the Martin Luther King Day
Weekend in January. We stay in two condos, one for girls and one
for boy, and enjoy two day’s of skiing or snowboarding. The
youth are chaperoned by both adult skiers and non-skiers. We share
in devotions on Saturday and Sunday night, as well as lots and lots
of yummy food and fellowshipping. We promise a good time and fun
in the snow!
Spring Camp
Family Camp is an exciting opportunity for families of the church
to join together and share in games, crafts, fellowship, scripture,
food, and fun. In the past the camp was held in January, but has
been moved to a spring camp scheduled for April 21, 22, and 23 of
2006. Family camp is held at Camp Sky Meadows in Angelus Oaks, California
.
Fall Camp
Youth Wayfarers is held each year in October at Camp
Arbolado , The Fellowship of the Wayfarers program was created in
1965 by leaders of the First United Methodist Church of Orange, who
saw a need for the gradual discovering of our Lord in people’s lives. They
felt that within a camp atmosphere, people could have a chance to
grow, learn, and discover some things about themselves and what it
means to be a growing Christian and how to start the process, if
they hadn’t already given it much thought. Goals of the program
include:
- To provide a time and place to seek out the Lord and establish
a life-long relationship with Him.
- To provide a time to be away from the hassles of everyday
life and enjoy seeing and feeling God’s handiwork in
nature, scriptures, and in the faces and voices of others.
- To provide a time to focus on and make a personal commitment
to God in an area of out life that we would like to explore and
grow in during the next year.
The camp is not only a life changing experience, but a fantastic
time for fellowship and fun!
Day Camps
The youth participate in several day camps, such as rock climbing,
whitewater rafting, hiking, and more.
