The Twigbenders were organized in the early 1940’s as a Sunday School class. The original members were young, married couples with children, so the origination of the class name, “The Twigbenders” – “As a twig is bent, so the child grows”.

When the children grew to young adults, the Sunday School Class became a Christian Fellowship Group, whose purpose was to promote “Christian ideals, teachings, and actions while providing a background for social and recreational associations between those who are endeavoring to lead lives that reflect the teachings of the Bible”.

The Twigbenders have program and dinner meetings 5 times a year on the third Friday of February, April, June, October, and December. We are always glad to have visitors, however we need to know one week in
advance. The Twigbender ladies have Thursday lunch meetings monthly, except during the summer months.

Any member of FUMCO may become a Twigbender. Most of our members are near retirement age or older. Our current active membership is 63. The Twigbenders annually contribute a cash gift to the needs of FUMCO.
