Baptism |
At the First United Methodist Church of Orange, we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Baptism at various times throughout the year during our Sunday morning worship service.
Baptism is a sacrament of new life and initiation, specifically as a disciple of Jesus Christ in the church. It is symbolic of such things as dying and rising with Christ, being washed clean of sins, and receiving the Holy Spirit.
We believe baptism has to do with God’s promise to us and not our promise to God.
To schedule a baptism, please contact the pastor through the church office.

Sunday School |
The First United Methodist Church of Orange believes that Christian education is vital to Christian development and nurture. We also believe that Sunday School is a key element to a well grounded Christian education program. Our Sunday School program helps children grow in their understanding of God's love by studying scripture, prayer, the sacraments and discovering what it means to be a valued member of the body of Christ and this church.
Our children’s Sunday School classes begin at 9:00 am. We have wonderful and well-prepared teachers to greet children at the door, ready to share the message of God’s love with them.
Sunday School is followed by fellowship in the church courtyard at 10:00 am.
Our worship service begins at 10:30 am. Children crib-age through two years go directly to the nursery. Preschoolers begin in worship and go to childcare following Children’s Moment. Kindergarten through sixth grade remains in the worship service.

Acolytes |
|
Service as an acolyte in Christian worship is one of the most important services a youth can render to the worship life of the church. The acolytes are youth who have undergone training classes. They lead the weekly worship procession by bringing in and taking out the “Light of Christ”, the Bible, and the processional cross or liturgical banner. They also assist with communion and offering. Any youth in 5th grade or higher is invited to attend acolyte training and to become a part of this very special ministry. |
