UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

Our local unit of United Methodist Women (UMW) is a very active part of life at the First United Methodist Church of Orange. Every female member of our church is considered a member of our organization. There are approximately 100 women from our congregation that directly participate in our local unit in some way.

We meet the second Thursday of most months in Messenger Hall at 11:30 a.m. A short business meeting is followed by a luncheon and informative program. Childcare is provided.

Along with our monthly unit meeting, we have several major events throughout the year. Our major fundraiser to support our mission pledge is our rummage sale in August. We have a “Mother-Daughter-Friend” event the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Our “Cranberry Tea” is typically the first Saturday in November. Both of these events include entertainment and a delicious luncheon. All of these events are held in our Messenger Hall. We also have an annual spiritual retreat, usually held over a weekend in March. It is an event that has been going on for over 20 years and is typically held at Aldersgate Retreat Center in Pacific Palisades.

JULIA CIRCLE

Julia Circle is a “young-at-heart” group of creative women who meet on the second Tuesday evening each month in members’ homes for food, fellowship, and a focused activity.

RUTH CIRCLE

Ruth Circle is a more traditional fellowship group of mostly active, retired women, enthusiastic about mission work. This group meets on the fourth Tuesday evening each month in members’ homes for food, fellowship, and informative programs.

WRITING CIRCLE

Most fourth Thursdays of most months at 1:00 p.m. in the library a friendly group of phenomenal women gather to write in their journals about faith, love, peaches, grasshoppers, and what we hold dear. "Tell me what else should they be doing?" (Mary Oliver)

Please join us for a 90 minute break from the world to surprise yourself and mingle with great women. Drop in any month! No one signs a long-term contract!

QUILTER'S GUILD
